2018 recipients

Congratulations to alumni, staff members and friends of La Trobe recognised in the 2018 Australia Day Honours.

We'd like to recognise and congratulate the following people:

Officer of the Order of Australia (AO)

Professor Caroline Finch AO: Master of Science and Adjunct Professor, Sports Exercise and Medicine – La Trobe University

For distinguished service to sports medicine, particularly in the area of injury prevention, as an educator, researcher and author, and to the promotion of improved health in athletes and those who exercise.

Professor Neville King AO: Doctor of Philosophy (Behavioural Science) – La Trobe University

For distinguished service to psychiatry, particularly in the area of dementia and the mental health of older persons, as an academic, author and practitioner, and as an adviser to professional bodies.

Mr Brian Loughnane AO: Bachelor of Arts (Hons) – La Trobe University

For distinguished service to parliament and politics through contributions to public policy, and as Federal Director of the Liberal Party of Australia.

Ms Pamela Pryor AO: Bachelor of Science, Bachelor of Education, Diploma of Education – La Trobe University

For distinguished service to occupational health and safety through leadership and advisory roles, particularly in developing standards for education frameworks.

Mr Geoffrey Wilson AO: Bachelor of Science – La Trobe University

For distinguished service to the business and finance sectors, particularly in the field of asset management and investment, to professional financial bodies, and to the community as a supporter of charitable foundations.

Member of the Order of Australia (AM)

Mr Mark Watt AM: Master of Social Work – La Trobe University

For significant service to the community, particularly to disadvantaged and at-risk youth, through social welfare support organisations.

Medal of the Order of Australia (OAM)

Mrs Rosie Bray OAM: Bachelor of Arts (Hons) – La Trobe University

For service to the community of north east Melbourne.

Mr Russell Walker OAM: Diploma of Business – La Trobe University

For service to the community of Victoria through a range of roles.

Ms Francis Walsh OAM: Bachelor of Education – La Trobe University

For service to local government, and to the community of the Indigo shire.

Mr Daniel O'Keefe OAM: Bachelor of Science (Hons), Diploma of Education – La Trobe University

For service to physics education.

David Thomson OAM: Diploma of Legal Studies – La Trobe University

For service to education in Victoria, and to the community.

Mr Garry Pearson OAM: Australian Dental Association, Victorian Branch
