Australian Computer Society Accreditation

The Master of Business Analytics and the Master of Business Information Management and Systems are accredited by the Australian Computer Society (ACS). ACS accreditation is an acknowledgement that an institution and its programs produce graduates who have the knowledge and skills required of an ICT professional.

CPA and CAANZ Accreditation

A range of La Trobe's accounting courses are accredited by CPA Australia and Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand (CAANZ), and graduates of La Trobe accounting courses may be eligible to apply for membership with other professional groups such as the Institute of Public Accountants (IPA), the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA), and the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA). Successful completion of the appropriate choice of subjects qualifies Accounting graduates for membership of the following professional accounting bodies: CPA Australia, and Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand (CAANZ).

Forensic accounting minor

Our focus at La Trobe is much broader than the potential of employment in the private sector. La Trobe University's Accounting degrees offer a minor in forensic accounting that prepares graduates for careers in the high demand areas of private entities, government, councils and non-government organisations (NGOs).

Undergraduate

Bachelor of Accounting

This course offers more than just an accounting qualification. In addition to completing an eight-subject major in accounting, students study business, economics, finance, management, marketing, sustainability and entrepreneurship subjects.

Bachelor of Business

This course gives you the chance to study a range of areas such as accounting, events, sports, tourism, hospitality management, economics, finance, management or marketing as your primary major, and match that with any business or non-business major, minor or elective from across the University.

Bachelor of Business Analytics

Students in the Bachelor of Business Analytics learn the fundamentals of business, including how to solve business challenges and how to analyse data strategically.

Bachelor of Commerce

La Trobe's Bachelor of Commerce gives you the opportunity to complete a professionally accredited major along with the chance to talk and work with business professionals while you study. Choose from majors in accounting, economics, finance, management and marketing.

Master of Business Analytics

Understand the complexity of business needs and learn how to solve them with data-based solutions. The Master of Business Analytics is accredited by the Australian Computer Society (ACS) and is one of the few courses in Australia where you'll graduate with a Certificate in Business Analytics from SAS.

Master of Business Information Management and Systems

Students learn how to design, operate and analyse business information systems, the latest techniques and templates and will graduate with the skills to start their own enterprise or thrive in the world of start-ups. The Master of Business Information Management and Systems is accredited by the Australian Computer Society (ACS)

Master of Professional Accounting

The two-year Master of Professional Accounting (MPA) is suitable if you have an undergraduate degree without an accounting major. This degree helps you develop your understanding of accounting, economics, management and related areas.

Research degree

Doctoral Research Degree

A doctoral research degree involves the in-depth study of a particular aspect of your specialist subject, under the supervision of our internationally reputed staff, and typically lasts four years full-time or eight years part-time. Many of our PhD students pursue a career in the higher education sector as an academic. However, a PhD also opens up many opportunities in industry and the public and the non-profits sectors. The Department is home to researchers from around the globe, specialising in a wide ranging areas in accounting and public sector accounting.
