La Trobe helps Australians retrain
La Trobe University welcomed the federal government’s announcement of funding support towards short, online courses in national priority areas such as health and teaching to help Australians retrain for the new economy that will emerge from the COVID-19 pandemic.
La Trobe is currently preparing a range of relevant courses for government approval. A full list of these courses will be made available shortly.
La Trobe University Vice-Chancellor Professor John Dewar AO said the University was already world-leading in teaching, learning and research in priority areas such as allied health, teaching, nursing, sciences and IT.
“La Trobe offers wide-ranging, accredited courses in core areas such as teaching, nursing and allied health, and we have the ability to offer these at a range of entry levels including as short, online courses,” Professor Dewar said.
“The COVID-19 pandemic has proven that we have the ability and agility to adapt our course offering to online, including shorter, micro-credentials that will enable students to develop the skills required for jobs in the new, post-COVID-19 economy.”
