Responsibilities of Executive Officers

The Executive Officer provides secretariat support to the committee and is responsible for facilitating its efficient operations. The Executive Officer is expected to:

  • Prepare and circulate the agenda and papers
  • Record the business and outcomes of the meetings, and include in Academic Board, Council or Senior Executive Group reports, as applicable
  • Maintain the committee Unite (or other) intranet site
  • Ensure appropriate communications with the Chair, members of the committee and other bodies, including the Academic Board, Council and Senior Executive Group
  • Follow up on actions arising from meetings and ensure that all files pertaining to the committee are registered appropriately in the University’s central records management system
  • Provide timely advice on policies relevant to the committee’s Terms of Reference and general governance operations
  • Prepare appropriate briefings for the Chair of the committee.
