Sarah Butler - Bachelor of Conservation Biology & Ecology (Honours), PhD - Consultant, Clear Horizon

Clear Horizon is a small consultancy company that specializes in program monitoring & evaluation. I spend most of my time working with people in workshops to collect data about the program or develop ways of evaluating their program. Our work uses many social research methods & techniques. One of the most enjoyable parts of my job is interviewing people such as farmers, fishermen, research staff, extension officers, project officers & managers, & executives in government agencies. I have found that many of the skills I learned as part of my scientific research training are transferable to the workplace & I love the fact that my skills can be used in many different ways. I thoroughly enjoy my job & am inspired everyday by the work that other people are doing to better understand & use our natural resources.
