Susan Burns - Bachelor of Science (Conservation Biology and Ecology) - Project Officer, North Central Catchment Management Authority
The North Central Catchment Management Authority (CMA) coordinates natural resource management in North Central Victoria. The CMA aims to protect the health, and ensure the sustainability of the region’s natural resources through being responsible for projects relating to biodiversity, river and wetland health, floodplain, environmental flow, water resource and irrigation management, as well as community engagement.
My role within the North Central CMA involves coordinating and directing wetland management across the region, in conjunction with numerous industry and community partners. I am currently writing a Regional Wetlands Strategy.
I enjoy my role with the CMA as I am able to influence how wetlands will be managed across the region, and can use the science and knowledge gained through my university course to make informed management decisions.
