Centre for Materials and Surface Science

Welcome to the Centre for Materials and Surface Science at La Trobe University.

The Centre for Materials and Surface Science (CMSS) is located at the Bundoora campus of La Trobe University. Bundoora is a northern suburb of the Melbourne metropolitan area, approximately 15 km from the city centre. CMSS is an interdisciplinary research centre involving staff from the departments of Physics, Chemistry, Electronic Engineering and Pharmacy.

CMSS research activities are predominantly within the areas of materials and surface science involving significant interaction with both local and international industrial and academic research organisations. The Centre aims to: 

• promote co-operative activities and programs in education and research; 
• encourage collaboration between local and international organisations; and
• provide, receive and disseminate information in the areas of the centre.
