Welcome to the School of Social Sciences
The School offers a unique combination of disciplines and interdisciplinary areas of study. It teaches majors in Anthropology, Asian Studies, Aboriginal Studies, Development Studies, Politics, Legal Studies, Australian Studies, Sociology, Japanese, Indonesian and Chinese. This makes the School pre-eminent in the Social Sciences in Victoria and Australia. It has major strengths in Asian and International Studies and Australian Studies. The School emphasises the importance of high quality teaching, excellent research and contributions to the wider community.

Undergraduate and Postgraduate Degrees
The School makes a major contribution to Bachelor degrees in Arts, International Relations, International Development; Legal Studies, Asian Studies and Social Sciences. These degrees are available either as single degrees or as part of double degree programs. In addition to undergraduate teaching, the School teaches a large number of postgraduate students undertaking research higher degrees and at the Masters and Graduate Diploma level.
