Screening the past is concerned with:
It publishes material of interest to historians of film and media, to film and media scholars, to social historians interested in the place of film and media within general history, to film makers interested in the history of their craft or in representing history through their productions, to film and media librarians and archivists.
It encourages scholarly debate on all these, respecting the views of others even if disagreeing with them.
It co-operates with other publications, both hard-copy and electronic, with related interests.

English. The journal is particularly interested in publishing translations of articles not previously published in English.

Reviews: Reviews of books, films, television programmes, multimedia, reports on conferences.
