INVALID UNITS
FACULTY OF SCIENCE, TECHNOLOGY AND ENGINEERING
INVALID UNITS
INVALID units MUST be corrected prior to the published Census Date for the respective units.
An INVALID unit can occur for several reasons, such as:
- You have selected units which are incompatible with your course structure
- You have not selected the required pre-requisite and/or co-requisite unit/s
- You have failed a pre-requisite or co-requisite unit in a prior teaching period
- You have selected a unit that has a class quota limit (see below for FSTE quota units)
- You have overloaded your enrolment in a teaching period or year level
You may check for invalid units on your enrolment via StudentOnLine. They will also appear on your Statement of Account. You may find that units that did not have an INVALID status at the time you lodged your current year enrolment, may now appear as INVALID.
Failure to correct any INVALID Units may result in your fees being calculated incorrectly, no seat available for you in examinations and a result for any INVALID unit may not be given.
QUOTA UNITS 2008:
1st Semester quota units will not be assessed until mid February 2008. If you have not breached any other of the above dot points, your quota unit/s will remain as INVALID until the quota reports have been run. You do not need to do anything further unless notified.
2nd Semester quota units will not be assessed until closer to 2nd semester 2008.
If you have any INVALID units on your enrolment which do not relate to quotas you will need to do one of two things:
- Withdraw from the invalid unit and replace with an appropriate alternate unit – all additional units must now be signed in by the unit co-ordinator before they can be added
- Have the unit co-ordinator approve your enrolment in the invalid unit by signing the ‘Unit Approval Advisor of Studies’ box on your ‘Variation of Enrolment’ form.
Should you have any queries regarding this matter, please contact the Faculty Office, Physical Science 1, Level 2, Room 215.
