The physics department at La Trobe is a small but active department specialising in three research areas: Materials and Surface Science, Space Science and X-ray Science.

We have a proud record of success in attracting research funding in these areas and can therefore provide a well-supported environment for postgraduate study.

Because of the relatively small numbers involved, Masters and PhD students are able to develop a close relationship with their supervisor(s) and with other graduate students. Many of these come from overseas and provide a rich mixture of interesting cultural diversity.
