The Bouverie Centre has a state-wide role in helping public mental health
and related health and welfare services to work responsively, respectfully
and effectively with families and other carers. Within the Community
Services Program, the Centre has created a range of training and
consultation services to help organisations develop family sensitive
cultures and to support professionals in their work with families and other
carers. Family sensitive work is built on the systemic philosophy that the
long term interests of consumers, families and workers are often different
but interdependent.
The Bouverie Centre is interested in developing collaborative relationships
with local agencies to help implement family sensitive practices in
Victoria. Support services provided by Bouverie include: Continuing
Education for professionals, On Site Training, Clinical Consultation
Services, Service Development support for organisations, Research and
Projects and Public Education.
The Bouverie Centre's Community Services program has been developed during
20 years of work in training and consultation, and has more recently, been
informed by the highly successful 1998 state-wide Get Together FaST
Training and Service Development initiative ( FaST stands for Family
Sensitive Training). This initiative involved Child and Adolescent,
Adult and Aged Mental Health Services. Last year Get Together FaST was
successfully adapted for the state-wide Forensic Mental Health Services.
Get Together FaST and advanced FaST services are now available to
organisations other than mental health. See the FaST brochure for services
and costs or visit the FaST section of this site.
Community Services are available to all Child & Family Services, Adult and
Aged Services in public mental health and in the Specialist Clinical areas
of Mental Health, Sexual Abuse and Acquired Brain Injury, and in the
Single Session approach.
