Specialisation in plants and soils or animal production is possible and agricultural biotechnology is an elective.

Employment prospects

It is expected that students graduating from this course would return to their home countries with significantly improved qualifications in the areas of primary science and agribusiness. Based on experience with our current graduates from research Masters degrees, graduates from this course would be highly competitive for senior research and management positions in Universities and a range of Government and private institutions.

Pre-requisites

Enrolment will be supported by interview with each applicant and the design of a specific program to suit their particular interests and scholastic background. The core units in each year consist of subjects designed to address basic academic and generic skills and provide high-level integration of discipline specific skills. The final year project may be carried out within any department of the School of Life Sciences or with internal supervision at a range of suitable outside organisations and it is expected that the project will address relevant agricultural issues and provide training in the scientific method and laboratory skills. Projects will also be offered in the area of agribusiness and these may be undertaken in other Schools of the University or with outside organizations.
