La Trobe University Women's NetworkPostgraduate AwardThe La Trobe University Women's Network Award was established to support female postgraduate students on the Melbourne campus. The Award will target disadvantaged women students who are continuing postgraduate studies and who have demonstrated involvement in community or student activities. The award can be either a book voucher with a value of $250 from the University Book Shop, or a conference reimbursement to the value of $250. The award can be presented at the annual prize-giving ceremony for the Melbourne Campus in the middle of each year. EligibilityApplicants for this award must be a female postgraduate student with sound academic results and evidence of continuing studies at the Melbourne campus. Applicants must be able to demonstrate involvement in community or student activities. Applications are encouraged from women who belong to one of the student equity groups, that is, students from socio-economically disadvantaged backgrounds; students from a non-English speaking background; students with disabilities; students from rural and/or isolated areas; Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students; or women in non-traditional fields of study. Both domestic and international postgraduate women students are eligible to apply. Format of ApplicationsApplicants must submit their application on the award application form and cover the following areas:
A personal submission making reference to the eligibility criteria and details why the applicant considers she qualifies for the award. Written references with names and contact details for referees. Applicants must provide a reference from a community agency and/or student association which confirms her involvement in community or student activities. Applicants are to include a copy of their academic results or permission to access their academic record on the Student Information System (SIS). For research-only candidates part way through their candidature, an academic reference from their supervisor also is required.
