Learning Centre

Wetlands boardwalk at the Learning CentreLearning CentreIn August 2005, the Learning Centre at the Melbourne Wildlife Sanctuary was officially opened. A group of middle years students from the Gresswell Cluster organised the event as part of the Sustainability Leaders experience offered through the Centre. The event was a great success with Cheryl Garbutt, the Minister for Children, Nancy Mills, La Trobe University's Chancellor and number of other dignitaries all commenting on the importance and benefits that such a centre will bring to schools in the region.

The Rod Foster Memorial Wetland at the Learning CentreThe Centre boasts two classrooms where students can get 'up close' to Australian wetland and woodland flora and fauna. A short walk from the classrooms is the Rod Foster Memorial Wetland with a boardwalk that allows students to investigate a fantastic wetland ecosystem. For schools involved in water quality, habitat and ecology experiences, this addition to the Learning Centre provides a perfect setting to reinforce (or introduce) the classroom learning experience.
