Twilight tours
What are Twilight tours? A high proportion of Australia's unique wildlife is nocturnal and emerges only at night. So if you want to see them you need to go out at night. It is a whole different world - possums, bats (the small insect eating ones mostly), birds and the odd gecko can be seen in the bush. Along with all these animals are thousands of species of insects and spiders and other mini beasts.
Our guide will walk with your group through the Sanctuary, and using spotlights you will be able to spot some of our night-time creatures, whilst also learning about the Sanctuary and the animals living within it.

When do tours run?
Tours run all year round on the third Wednesday of every month. Bookings are essential. Extra tours are organised during school holiday periods. Times are arranged when booking because sunset varies throughout the year.
Group bookings are welcome and alternate evenings can be arranged depending on numbers.
What equipment do I need to bring?
Dress for the weather, good footwear and long pants - otherwise nothing special is required. We use our own equipment - special coloured filter spotlights and bat detectors.
Daylight tours
Why not treat your club, extended family or group to a guided tour of the La Trobe Wildlife Sanctuary. Day tours can be arranged for any day, any time and are a great way of learning about the Melbourne region's natural history.
Visitors should dress for the weather and wear good comfortable shoes.
