Rural & Regional Student Access Scheme (RRSAS)

The purpose of this scheme is to encourage students who have completed their VCE (or HSC in NSW) at a rural/regional school to take up tertiary studies at one of our regional campuses.

This scheme allows the University to meet its stated mission/objectives by ensuring regional communities benefit from rural and regional students being exposed to teaching, learning and research in a regional setting. This promotes potential sustainable knowledge growth for the regional communities served by La Trobe University.

The schools/regions identified will be consistent across all campuses. All schools that are not in the Melbourne metropolitan or Geelong areas, or similar areas of NSW will be included.

Which schools qualify?
Students attending any of the rural and regional schools listed.

How to apply?
Students from an eligible school who make an admission application through VTAC or UAC to any undergraduate course at any of La Trobe's regional campuses will be automatically considered. There are no extra application forms to complete.

What does the Scheme provide?
The RRSAS provides an automatic three aggregate points bonus being added to applicants within the middle band.

Can students from rural and isolated areas also apply for special consideration under the SEAS - Rural and Isolated (Category 6)?
Absolutely. The SEAS scheme is for students who have suffered educational disadvantage as a result of either undertaking their secondary schooling in a rural or isolated area and/or are required to move from such an area to undertake the tertiary course of their choice.

The RRSAS has a different purpose - it's about encouraging rural/regional students to stay in regional areas, thereby building capacity and knowledge growth for regional areas.

Please note:
The RRSAS does not apply to applicants to the Bachelor of Pharmacy at Bendigo. Applicants to this course are covered by a course-specific bonus scheme.
