Visual Arts Practice Program

Hands drawingThe Visual Arts Practice units are offered primarily to Education students wanting to satisfy the requirements for minor studies of their course.

The units are also available to students outside of the School of Visual Arts & Design, wanting to do an elective. Availability of these units is subject to the number of student enrolments (i.e. class size) as well as staff and timetable availability.

The units offer students the opportunity for diversification across a range of Visual Arts disciplines.

Students will be provided with a specifically designed programme that aims at developing a broad art skill base pitched at an achievable level. The emphasis is on building students confidence directed toward encouraging conceptual awareness and design skills, technical competence and experimentation with various materials, media and processes.

Education students will also be introduced to classroom management and safety issues relevant to each of the discipline areas.
