Bachelor of Visual ArtsTheory and Methodologies in Studio Practice
Sequential studies in any one given medium offered in Theory and Methodologies in Studio Practice units constitute a major area of study. These units are structured to accelerate development in the range and depth of your creative concepts. In your major area of study you will take six units of Theory and Methodologies in Studio Practice over the three years of the degree. Each units comprises, one 1-hour lecture, one 1-hour tutorial and one 1-hour workshop per week for the duration of a semester. The unit results in the production of a folio of work in your major medium with a supporting working journal. In the second and third years of the degree students are also required to write an essay related to their major area of study. Throughout your studies in these units your own art practice will be supported and extended by a wide ranging series of lectures covering areas such as studio methods used in constructing artwork, narrative and story-telling, representation in art, `recombinant' art which exploits as its raw ingredients pre-existing cultural artifacts and the value of beauty.
