Research in Visual Arts and Design

Dr Anton Hasell

Anton Hasell has completed a number of significant public-space commissioned artworks including the ‘Federation Bells Carillon’ in Birrarung Marr Park, the ‘Victoria Police Memorial’ in St Kilda Road Melbourne and the ‘Eureka Circle’ installation in Ballarat. His work in sculpture and printmaking explore feelings and sensibilities that arise at the intersection of digital technology & traditional creative processes as part of his search for sustainable urban design in the context of the ancient Australian landscape.

Anton holds a Ph.D. (Architecture & Design, RMIT University) by thesis on public-space design and a Masters degree in Fine Arts (Sculpture) from the Victorian College of the Arts.  As a director of Australian Bell Pty Ltd and co-inventor of the ‘harmonic’ bell, Anton is continuing his research into interactive and participatory contemporary public-space design within his wider practice as a studio-based artist.
