Lecture and Tutorial Selection Using OASIS

Overview
OASIS (On-Line Automated Student Input System) is for students to select their Major discipline area, elective discipline area and Art & Visual Culture Tute time. Please read the following carefully to ensure you are fully aware of how the system works, and what your obligations are.

To access OASIS, you need to use your Student Online username and password, which, for new students, can be found on the top of your first statement of accounts.

OASIS WILL OPEN ON MONDAY  19TH FEBRUARY AT 10.00AM

Please do not commence to use OASIS until you know exactly which units you are enrolled in.

Guidelines for Using OASIS - Use OASIS for All Classes As Shown Below

VISUAL ARTS STUDENTS

Art & Visual Culture

You are required to select one tutorial time.

Theory & Methodologies in Studio Practice (Major)

As this is your major unit, what discipline area you choose under Theory & Methodologies will also be the discipline area you must choose for Visual Arts Media Workshop. Make your selection in Theory & Methodologies in Studio Practice first then for your Visual Arts Media Workshop unit.

Visual Arts Media Workshop (Major)

If you are enrolled as a full-time student, ensure you select the same discipline area as you did for Theory & Methodologies in Studio Practice. If you are enrolled part-time and not taking Theory & Methodologies in Studio Practice then just make your selection of your discipline area under Visual Arts Media Workshop.

Comparative Studies in Visual Media (Elective)

Make one discipline area selection different to your major discipline. Ensure you check the timetable thoroughly to ensure you do not have any clashes with your Art & Visual Culture lecture/tutes, Theory & Methodologies and Visual Arts Media Workshop.

GRAPHIC DESIGN STUDENTS

Art & Visual Culture

You are required to select one tutorial time.

Visual Arts Media Workshop

Make one discipline area selection from preferably either Photography, Multimedia or Illustration. Ensure you check the timetable thoroughly to ensure you do not have any clashes with your Art & Visual Culture lecture/tutes, Applied Design and Design Studies units.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION BEFORE ENTERING OASIS

You Must Have a Confirmed Enrolment Before Using OASIS
The database used by OASIS is provided by Student Administration, and only contains details of students who have correctly enrolled.

Be Careful When Entering Data
Make sure that you know exactly what units that you are enrolled in before using the system - otherwise your name may appear on class lists for units you are not undertaking.

Avoid Overloading Any One Day
As a general rule, unless there are exceptional circumstances, you should not have more than four hours of lectures/tutorials without a break and undertake no more than 5 hours of classes per day.

You Need to Enter Classes Individually
It is not possible to select two or more classes at the same time on the one screen.

You Will Have to Compromise
We all like to get exactly what we want, and whilst most students will get most of what they want, please don't expect perfection. For instance, there are classes timetabled on every day of the week and some of these are held 'after hours'. Moreover, "taking Friday off to go home" may not be either possible or desirable.

What If I Have Problems?
Firstly ensure that you have carried out all the instructions properly. If you haven't done so, then rectify this. If you still experience difficulties, contact Jennifer Uren, Course Administrator, Office 2.24 in the Visual Arts Building or Sylvia Reeves, Technician, Office 2.45a in the Graphic Design Building.

Have You Understood Everything?
Please ensure that you understand what you have read above before proceeding further. If you have any questions or queries, please ask!!

Proceed to step by step instructions for using OASIS
