Troubleshooting

| Sound too low to hear properly | Internal speakers very small or volume not turned up. | The volume has been optimised for sound quality. For maximum volume use headphones where available and check that the speaker volume is turned up via the speaker icon in the bottom RHS of your screen. |
| Could not download Flash player, restrictions on the computer about the user loading programs | Some people do not have administrator access on their computers. | Speak with your local ICT person about loading Flash software onto your computer. The video should also be accessible as a Quicktime movie which is supported in our Standard Opperating Environment. |
| The movie clip was a bit dark and the aspect ratio seemed off | This is probably a product of user’s brightness and contrast settings. | Adjust your monitor’s brightness and contrast settings. If the aspect ratio is incorrect your monitor's resolution may not be set correctly. |
| “Page cannot be displayed message” appeared | Incorrect link or typing error. Page moved or deleted. | Check the url in the address bar. If you followed a link, there may be an error with the it. If the error is obvious, such as a comma instead of a period, you can correct it. Otherwise, you will have to wait for the link to be corrected. An email to the owner of the page may help get the correction made sooner. Check your spelling. The page may have been moved or there is a problem with the server. Please check back later. |
| Denied access | Some video sites are protected. | If you do not have a username and password for such sites, you will not be allowed to view the content. |
| Don’t know the password | Some video sites are protected. | The password will usually be your LTU login password. |
| Audio only – no video | Old Flash version. | Probably a Flash version issue. Follow the link provided on the to install the latest version of Flash. |
| Video ‘freezing’ (on a Mac computer) | Old Flash version. | Probably a Flash version issue. Follow the link provided on the to install the latest version of Flash. |
| Slow video | Only computer, low memory, old Flash version. | If your computer is old, it may not have the necessary power. Try using another computer. If you have many applications open your computer may be low on memory. Try closing some applications to free up some memory Possibly a Flash version issue.
