Exhibition and Event Calendar for 2009

The Galleries at the Visual Arts Centre, hosts an annual calendar of contemporary art exhibitions. The calendar consists of curated shows, postgraduate exhibitions for examination, and exhibitions selected from proposals by emerging or established practitioners working in all fields of the Visual Arts, encouraging a calendar of diverse exhibitions that presents a broad range of media and critical approaches.

As well as exhibitions the Visual Arts Centre also hosts a range of special events and festivals open to the public.

The People's Pageant Contemporary confraternities and the Semana Santa
Lyn Plummer, Public Lecture, 6pm, Wednesday, 20 May, 2009, Brockley Auditorim

Lyn Plummer is currently the Artist in Residence at LaTrobe University Visual Arts Centre. She spent Holy Week, 2006 in Andalucia, in the provincial city of Jaen and the mountain village of Zuheros. She shares some observations and discoveries abou the pageantry and involvement of the people of Southern Spain in their most important festival of he year - Semana Santa.
