Wednesday October 28 and Thursday October 29 were the best days ever for downloads by people of interviews of La Trobe academics and personalities. La Trobe's voice is being heard internationally, make sure you get involved.
There were 10,020 downloads of podcasts and videocasts from La Trobe at iTunesU on Wednesday 28 and 8000 downloads on thursday 29 October. To put this in perspective, before joining iTunesU La Trobe podcasts would be downloaded perhaps 2-300 times a day, so the leap to the thousands is very impressive.
The main reason for the jump in the statistics is an advertising campaign by Apple promoting the iTunesU platform. Apple approached La Trobe soon after we joined iTunesU in August and requested the use of some images we use on the site for their advertising campaign. Apple was impressed by the content of our interviews and now La Trobe is being featured in Apple online commercials all over the world.
Professor Dennis Altman's interview about gay rights and the UN received 1200 downloads on the Wednesday and Thursday, and Professor Andrew Glikson's podcast on the science of climate change denialism also received nearly 1000 hits.
75% of downloads are from outside Australia, with 33% from the United States, 7% United Kingdom and 6% Canada.
