| Unit Description: | In this unit students are introduced to the nature of the environment and its uses and abuses by our society. A multi-disciplinary approach is used to examine chemical, biological and physical processes, how these may be unbalanced by human activity and the subsequent effect on human health and the environment. |
| Class Requirements: | one 2-hour lecture and one 2-hour practical/tutorial class per week. A minimum of two field excursions will be conducted in lieu of some practical sessions. |
