Special Conditions:Students require access to a health setting in order to conduct a clinical audit. Students enrolling in this subject are normally required to be working clinically in their area of speciality for a minimum of 20-hours per week.
Subject Description:In this subject students are introduced to the context and development of evidence based practice and critically examine what counts for evidence in the development of clinical practice guidelines (CPGs). While Master of Nursing Science (Nurse Practitioner) students are expected to develop a clinical guideline during this unit, other students are expected to critically examine and update a clinical guideline. In this way all students will be able to demonstrate their understanding of the principles of evidence based practice. Students are encouraged to build a personal portfolio of protocols and/or CPGs that can be used in their clinical practice. For some students this would also be used as part of their Nurse Practitioner portfolio for the Nurses Board.

Class Requirements:A flexible learning package that is equivalent to 50 hours of classroom learning. Adjunct material will be posted on LMS. Students enrolling in this unit are normally required to be working clinically in their area of speciality for a minimum of 20-hours per week.
