| Unit Code: | MIC3AM |
| Unit Short Title: | ADVANCED MICROBIOLOGY |
| Credit Points: | 30.0 |
| Unit Description: | This unit comprises components of applied plasmid biology, microbial genetics and microbial cell biology. Plasmid biology encompasses the principles and procedures relevant to plasmid detection; characterization; subunit determination; applications in molecular biology; evolution; and significance to the bacterial host. Microbial genetics topics include the regulation of gene expression and transcript processing. The microbial cell biology component deals with how prokaryotes and eukaryotes process information in the DNA and in extracellular signals (signal transduction). |
