Subject Description:In Calculus A students will explore the key ideas of differential and integral calculus, two seemingly unrelated areas of mathematics that are, in fact, very closely connected. These ideas underpin much of modern pure and applied mathematics, and are applicable to areas as diverse as biology, chemistry, economics, engineering and physics. The topics in Calculus A include limits, differentiation, graph sketching, integration, inverse functions, Taylor series, complex numbers and differential equations. Successful completion of the subject will ensure you are well-prepared for subsequent major studies in mathematics or studies within the engineering program.
Class Requirements:three 1-hour lectures and one 1-hour tutorial per week.
