Subject Description:The composition, structure and dynamic processes of earth are of interest to many different groups of people who wish to better understand the planet on which they live. This subject is available for study by students from a range of disciplines and provides an introduction to earth materials via a systematic study of the composition and mode of origin of rock-forming minerals, and of common rock groups and geological structures. It considers the processes that form and shape planet earth and the interaction of humans with geological processes.
Class Requirements:two 1-hour lectures per week, one 3-hour laboratory class per week and one 3-hour field class.
