Subject Short Title:SUPPORTING THE NEEDS OF ALL LEARNERS

Subject Description:In this subject, students will learn how every child, regardless of the challenges they face, has the ability to learn. The role of a teacher requires that every learner in their care has the opportunity to be successful in learning. Students will explore resources that will help develop ways to adapt their teaching to the individual needs of students in order to maximize opportunities for all children to succeed. This includes students with high potential, under-performing students and students with special needs. In this subject student teachers will also explore strategies to engage effectively with the school community, including parents, to identify the requirements of children in their classroom and to respond to their needs.
Class Requirements:Three hours per week or equivalent. This may include lectures, tutorials, practicals, workshops and/or online interaction. Practicum requirement of 15 days.
