| Unit Description: | In this unit students look at the Hollywood film industry and the kinds of films it produced under the studio system from 1917-47, the changes that took place in the industry and its audiences in the 1950s and 1960s, and the emergence of New Hollywood, the high concept film, the blockbuster and auteur film in the 1970s and 1980s. We will conclude by examining current trends including transnational exchanges and global Hollywood in the digital era. |
