Subject Description:Applications of Chemistry further develops the foundation concepts and knowledge of the first semester chemistry subjects (CHE1BAS and CHE1GEN) with the aim of fully preparing students to advance to second year studies in chemistry or apply chemistry knowledge and skills within their chosen discipline. This subject includes specific applications of chemistry to the manufacture of synthetic materials, identifying and alleviating chemical pollution, and the chemistry of living organisms.
Prerequisites:CHE1GEN or CHE1BAS
Class Requirements:three 1-hour lectures, one 1-hour tutorial and one 3-hour laboratory or workshop class per week.
