| Unit Description: | In this subject students are introduced to topics and themes of importance in contemporary anthropology, particularly in relation to the discipline's key concepts of 'society', 'culture', and 'nature'. Students will gain an understanding of the general state of play in anthropology in the late twentieth and early twenty-first centuries, particularly as a long term outcome of the development of a century and a half of theory and methodology, and their application in ethnographic research. We aim to consolidate, enhance and expand what students have learned in first year anthropology in such a way as to be particularly beneficial for those majoring in the discipline. |
