The Trendall Archive During his lifetime Professor A.D. Trendall built up a collection of photographs of South Italian and Sicilian red-figure vases to help him in his research. This Archive now holds more than 40,000 photographs, which are mounted on cardboard and filed according to the painters identified by Trendall in his various publications. A database project has produced text files on all Sicilian, Campanian, Paestan and most Lucanian red-figure vases in Trendall's lists. It is hoped to extend this to Apulian, the largest of all the South Italian red-figure fabrics of the Classical period, and to include digitised images with the text. At the present moment the database is only accessible at La Trobe University. Content Approved by: Head of Department Page maintained by: Administrative Assistant Last Updated: 22 February, 2003 |
