Carshare is more convenient than car rental, cheaper than car ownership and better for the environment.
It's a great option if you don't need a car every day, or want to stop using your second car.

Flexicar at Melbourne campus
La Trobe University has partnered with Flexicar to provide a new carshare service for students and staff at the Melbourne (Bundoora) campus. This partnership is part of La Trobe's sustainable transport options in collaboration with the La Trobe University Student Union.
Two flexicars (four door Hyundai i30s, 5 star ANCAP safety) are available for use from February 2013. The cars will be parked in front of Menzies College reception.

Join Flexicar
You can join Flexicar for $30 with an annual insurance premium of $70. As a member, you can use the fleet of cars for an all-inclusive hourly rental fee of $9.95 - $14.50, capped to a daily rate of $65 - $89. (Rates applicable for La Trobe University staff members only.)
All Flexicar plan rates include car, fuel, insurance, maintenance, parking, cleaning and roadside assistance (excludes fines and tolls).
La Trobe University students will need to join as student members, and staff as personal members. You will be asked to pay $1 sign up (so Flexicar can obtain your credit card details) however this will be refunded to you.View full details of La Trobe University's Flexicar program [PDF 605 KB].
Student memberships
A discounted flexi-Uni plan is available for students. Membership costs $7.50 per month (includes one hour's driving per month) and $7.50 per hour or $55 per day to drive.
Launch offer
For a limited time, Flexicar is offering La Trobe University staff a free sign up, waiving any joining fees and the $70 annual damage cover fee.
The offer is available until the end of April 2013.
As a staff member, you can join on the Flexicar Intro plan. This gives you no monthly fees and no minimum monthly driving credit pre-purchase requirement. You will only pay when you drive the cars.
Simply quote 'LATROBESUPER' as the promotional code when you join via the Flexicar website.
