ECDL/ICDL: Using the Computer and Managing Files v4.0

Eligible

La Trobe staff, postgraduate & undergraduate students.

Description

This course is one of seven Essential Core Computing Skills that will get you started in using a computer.

Computers are being used everywhere and to work with them efficiently, it's essential to understand the computer environment. You can store large amounts of data in your computer, but it needs to be managed efficiently for fast and easy retrieval. In this course, you'll explore the computer environment, change computer settings and install and uninstall software. You will also understand how data is stored in the computer and how to manage it. You will familiarize yourself with viruses and how to prevent their spread. Lastly, you'll install a printer on your computer and print a file.

Although this training has been approved by the ICDL Foundation (www.icdl.com.au), these excercises are not ICDL certification tests.

When you have successfully completed all seven Essential Core Computing Skills (identified by the course code ICDL), you may apply to Training @ La Trobe for a Certificate which will list all seven courses.
