Areas of Study - Sport and leisure management

Check out our sport and leisure management video information.

It is estimated that over 13 million Australians participated in sport, recreation and physical activity for exercise in 2004. (Source: SCORS 2005). On average, sport is practised once a week (Source: ABS 2002).

Our preoccupation with sport is also evident by the seven million members of Australia's peak industry sporting body, Sport Industry Australia. Representatives range from sport businesses to governing organisations and their members (Source: Tourism Council, 2003 Sport Employment Australia).

Gain the competitive advantage - with sport management courses at La Trobe. Our undergraduate program is designed to provide students with a solid business foundation, combined with specialist sport and leisure management units. Students can specialise in sport marketing, sponsorship, elite athlete management, facility and event management and sports governance. Our postgraduate degrees prepare students for professional employment in the industry or build upon current knowledge and experience.

La Trobe graduates hold positions with councils, sport governance organisations (Cricket Australia, Football Victoria) and Melbourne Stadiums, such as Telstra Dome.
