Promoting Academic Integrity and implementing the Academic Misconduct Policy
This resource provides information about the Academic Misconduct Policy [pdf 50kb]; responsibilities of staff and students; what information staff need to provide to students; and strategies for promoting academic integrity.
A website has been created to educate students about plagiarism and how to avoid it. Another site for students promotes academic integrity and includes information on avoiding plagiarism; links to resources about the conventions of acknowledgement; referencing and using research based evidence; plus copies of assignment cover sheets.
Academic integrity is supported by implementing the La Trobe University Academic Misconduct Policy [pdf 50kb].
An academic integrity approach requires staff and students to be informed about La Trobe University standards of honesty, its standards of academic acknowledgment and the penalties if these standards are breached.
The Academic Misconduct Policy provides:
- Definitions of plagiarism;
- A list of academic staff responsibilities;
- A list of student responsibilities;
- Strategies for minimising plagiarism; and
- Guidelines for detecting and reporting student academic misconduct.
