An improved CTLC website
The CTLC website has been undergoing some changes recently. You will notice that on our homepage a full list of scheduled workshops and seminars is displayed prominently and the site menu on the left of screen has been expanded to make it easier to get to the content you want. We've also added a Webcast and Podcast section where you can view teaching and learning seminars. www.latrobe.edu.au/ctlc/

La Trobe SoLT Research Network
Do you have educational research ideas that you would like to share in writing? Are you interested in publishing Higher Education research? Are you looking for inter-disciplinary collaboration on grant proposals? Come join the La Trobe Scholarship of Learning and Teaching Research Network (La Trobe SoLT Research Network)
The aim of the SoLT Research Network will be to advance the theory, research and writing about learning and teaching (also known as action or pedagogical research) at La Trobe University.
It will provide those researching teaching and learning in higher education and those concerned with improving their own practice with opportunities to collaborate on writing papers and grant proposals.
All staff are welcome to attend the lunchtime ‘Brown Bag’ meeting on the 2nd Tuesday of each month. A special invitation is extended to the alumni of ADU and CTLC professional development programs.
The SoLT Network is being convened by the CTLC’s Curriculum and Academic Developers. We're launching this year's meetings on October 13th with an open session to discuss the projects and interests of members of the network and to frame up a program for the 2010 academic year.

Vice-Chancellor's Colloquia now on iTunes
Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde: How universities create failure and how they might create success instead
The inaugural address of the Vice-Chancellor's Colloquia was presented by Professor Richard Teese, Professor of Post-Compulsory Education and Training at the University of Melbourne on 11 September 2009.
A video of this Colloquia is now available to download from La Trobe's iTunesU site (you need to have iTunes installed on your computer).
Online Survey: Using Web 2.0 Technologies in Assessment
Are you using web 2.0 / social web technologies and tools in subject teaching in an Australian university – AND - are you setting assignments where your students use these tools to do work for which they earn marks in this subject? If your students are using web 2.0 tools for this purpose, please take 15 minutes to complete an anonymous online survey. Very little is known about academic practices for using web 2.0 tools to assess student learning.
Researchers from The University of Melbourne, RMIT and Monash University are running this survey during September 2009 as part of a project funded by the Australian Learning and Teaching Council. The project aims to provide universities with guidelines on how to use these technologies more effectively to demonstrate student learning. Survey respondents may also nominate to be interviewed in more depth about their assessment of student web 2.0 work, AND to be subsidised by the project to take part in a one-day roundtable on this topic, that will be held in Melbourne in the latter part of November 2009.
