Learning and Teaching Performance Fund

The Learning and Teaching Performance Fund was announced in 2003 as part of the Australian Government's package of reforms and initiatives titled Our Universities: Backing Australia's Future. The fund, which is administered by the Department of Education, Employment and Workplace Relations (DEEWR), aims to reward universities that best demonstrate excellence (and for 2009, improvement) in undergraduate learning and teaching.

Universities are assessed on their learning and teaching performance using indicators such as the university's results on the Course Experience Questionnaire, the Graduate Destination Survey, and the progression and retention rates of currently enrolled students.

In 2009, La Trobe University received $2.48 million from the Fund which will be allocated to a number of University-wide and faculty-based curriculum initiatives over the next three years.
