Organic waste

Bokashi composting is being trialled at the Albury-Wodonga campus. Food scraps are collected from the staff room, and deposited into the Bokashi which produces odourless organic waste. This waste can then be taken home by staff members as compost for their gardens. It is estimated that maintaining a Bokashi composting bin takes no more than two minutes each day.

Market garden

Interested students and staff members have set up a market garden on campus. These students and staff members can then reap the benefits of their labour by taking their produce home for their own enjoyment. Interested staff/students can contact Dennis Black.

Recycling

The following recycling initiatives are now in practice at the Albury-Wodonga campus.

Any Fuji Xerox photocopier toners can be left for recycling in DEME office, Room 4116, Building 4.

A St Vincent de Paul clothing collection bin is in Centre Way next to Building 4.

Old mobile phones can be left in the staff room of Building 4.

A sale/swap meet for office furniture occurs at the commencement of each semester to relieve departments of excess furniture which is no longer required.

The campus uses recycled water to water its gardens and grassed areas.

Check out our university wide recycling page.

Albury-Wodonga's carpool system is available to staff and students. Interested people can register on the system and can be matched with other members who live in/near their neighbourhood. Priority car parking in the South Carpark has been made available for carpooling members.

Existing cycle paths and monthly Green travel days have been marketed to staff and students. Additional bike racks are being installed around campus.
