La Trobe University, in partnership with Quantum Victoria, Optus and Cisco are delighted to invite up to three teams of three students (Years 9-12) from your school to compete in the Grand Final of the Cyber Games 2017 on Saturday 18 November 2017.

Teams that participated in the August training day will now compete in defending simulated cyber-attack scenarios within the Cisco Cyber Range. The teams will need to progress through a number of qualifying rounds, the final team standing will be declared the Champions of the Cyber Games for 2017.

The competition is the first of its kind offered to High School students in Victoria. The Cisco Cyber Range is an industry standard platform used to train corporate staff on cyber security, which has been tailored to student’s skills level.

A report from La Trobe’s industry partner Cisco states there are currently an estimated one million cybersecurity job openings globally. This demand is projected to increase to six million by 2019, with an expected shortfall of 1.5 million trained staff.

This final competition forms part of La Trobe University’s 50th anniversary celebratory event entitled "SoundVision", featuring some of Melbourne's top musical acts, art displays and plenty of food trucks.  The outdoor concert will run from 4pm catering for the whole family in the afternoon and early evening, leading to a feature orchestral performance at sunset.  Live music will continue until 10.30pm.

The Cyber Games qualifying rounds and final will run from 1:00pm - 5.30pm in our Cisco computer lab on Bundoora campus.

We would like to invite teachers, family and friends to support your student’s as well as enjoy the all entertainment Soundvision has to offer. All guests attending must register for FREE access to the event. Check your email for the password to register.
