2008 Mid-Year Expo Come along to the Mid year Expo, 14 May to talk to a La Trobe representative to discuss your study options. Visit Mid-Year Entry for more information on courses available and expo details. What courses are available?La Trobe offers over 450 undergraduate courses in a wide variety of areas across five Faculties and seven campuses. CourseFinder is the easiest way to find out if a particular course is available, and at which campus. This comprehensive database includes undergraduate and postgraduate courses for Australian and International students. CourseFinder allows you to search by subject area and by related careers, so even if you're not sure of the exact course that you'd like to study you can use the related career information to find appropriate courses. Each course entry in CourseFinder will provide you with a link to the University Handbook, which provides details of course structure, individual study subjects, electives and assessment. Alternatively you can go straight to the University Handbook. What TAFE qualifications do I need to apply?Satisfactory completion of the first year of a Diploma or Advanced Diploma or completion of an Advanced Certificate (Certificate IV or above) offered by a TAFE (Technical and Further Education) provider. Applicants must also meet any specified prerequisite studies for their course of interest. Applicants without the specified prerequisites or their equivalent are advised to discuss their academic background with course information officers. Call 1300 135 045 or use CourseFinder to find contact details for specific courses. Some courses may have extra requirements such as interviews and presentation of folios. For detailed application information go to Applying TAFE Pathways - Credit towards a La Trobe degreeLa Trobe University offers TAFE students the opportunity to fast-track their undergraduate degree, by obtaining credit, based on successful or partial completion of a Diploma or Advanced Diploma program. For information about which TAFEs have agreements with La Trobe University, please see TAFE Pathways. For further details of credit arrangements download our publication Pathways through La Trobe [PDF 1.42MB]. How do I apply?Applications for most of La Trobe University's undergraduate courses (with the exception of specific courses articulating into the School of Sport, Tourism and Hospitality Management ) are lodged with the Victorian Tertiary Admissions Centre (VTAC). The closing date for timely applications is usually in late September each year. VTAC applications can be filled online. NSW applicants interested in courses at the Mildura and Albury-Wodonga campuses can apply through the NSW University Admissions Centre (UAC). You are also advised to:
For detailed application information. How much will it cost?La Trobe University offers both Commonwealth Supported Places (CSP, formally known as HECS) and Fee-Paying places. Please visit our Fees and Finance page for further information about costs, fees and financial assistance. SelectionMeeting minimum university entrance requirements or having completed or partially completed TAFE studies does not automatically guarantee you a place in the course of your choice. Generally there are more applicants for courses than there are places available. It is worth looking at the ENTERs (the system of ranking Yr 12 VCE performance in Victoria ) that have been required by Year 12 students for entry into specific courses over the last few years, giving you an idea of course popularity and competition for places. Non-School Leaver applicants have a wide range of different experiences and backgrounds and it is often quite difficult to assess the likelihood of gaining a place in your chosen course. It is best to speak with specific course information officers about your chances of a successful application. You can find contact details for these staff on our website under faculty course information, or in our Guide to Undergraduate Courses (PDF 2Mb) under individual course entries. Further informationTo assist you with your educational pathway and course options, we have produced Pathways through La Trobe (PDF 1.42Mb) and a Guide to Undergraduate Courses (PDF 2Mb). To receive a hard copy by post, please contact us. Sundays in August are Open Days at La Trobe. This is your chance to visit the University, talk to staff about your options, meet current students, take a campus tour and view the facilities. Get a feel for what it would actually be like to be a student here, and most importantly, ask questions! To find out what is happening at La Trobe University for prospective students, check out our events. If you wish to talk to one of our Course Information Officers in person, please call 1300 135 045.
