Year 11

What should I be doing in Year 11?

Year 11 is a great time to start researching the courses that interest you, and to consider possible careers.

One way to do this is to attend La Trobe’s events for future students. We have many events designed to give you not only information but also a taste of university life – and you can bring your parents to most of these.

School careers advisers are another great source of information and advice when you’re thinking through study and career options.

It’s also a good idea to talk to people in jobs that interest you, and to and attend careers fairs in your area. You can talk to employers, too, about the type of people they hire and the qualifications and skills they're looking for.

Work experience is also helpful – it allows you to find out what a particular job really involves. We have many placements on offer in La Trobe’s Work Experience Program – check the program to find one that suits you.

How do I find out about La Trobe courses?

Use CourseFinder to find a course that suits your interests. For detailed information on each course, see the University Handbook.
