Work experience

This is a great opportunity to experience working at one of Australia’s leading teaching and research universities. We offer student placements in seven general fields at the Melbourne (Bundoora) campus, so you can aim for the kind of work that most interests you:

  • artistic/creative
  • clerical/administrative
  • community service
  • manual/practical
  • outdoor
  • scientific
  • technical

Booking a placement is easy:

  1. Read the 2009 Work Experience Program booklet (PDF 2.6MB) to get an idea of the range of placements available (the 2009 booklet will be available in January).
  2. Choose a position that meets your interests and skills (you can choose more than one). Be sure to note any special requirements.
  3. Call the Work Experience Coordinator to verify availability and make a booking. Please let us know if you have any special circumstances or needs, such as a medical condition, disability, or request for variation in hours of work.
  4. Send a completed Work Experience Arrangement Form to the Work Experience Coordinator within two weeks of booking.

Once we receive the form we’ll send it back to your school, confirm your booking, and send you all the information you need. You’ll be paid $5 a day while you’re in your placement.

Important information

  • We only accept bookings for specified individual students (not open bookings).
  • La Trobe University reserves the right to terminate or withdraw a work experience placement should circumstances require.
