Workshop A (11.15 am)

Reframing employability: A review of current ideas and practices

The public debate about employability narrowly focuses on ‘employability skills’ and ‘employment outcomes’. Yet the link between skills and employment is somewhat tenuous. In this session we’ll explore the current thinking and practices around employability and provide insights into how practitioners can apply this knowledge to their work.

Biomedicine: Expanding pathways into allied health through science

Our proposed new biomedicine programs* at the Melbourne and Bendigo campuses now provide exciting pathways into postgraduate studies in allied health fields such as physiotherapy and speech pathology.  In this workshop we’ll cover the new developments and outline the various stepping stones to a range of careers in the field of biomedicine.  You’ll also gain insights into our hands on approach to learning, internship opportunities, overseas study tour experiences and state of the art labs and collaborative spaces students will have access to, including the $24 million refurbishment of our Reid Laboratories. *Changes are subject to final approval.

Politics, Philosophy and Economics (PPE)

Our Bachelor of Politics, Philosophy and Economics (PPE) is one of the most unique and innovative degrees in Victoria. Join Dr Tim Thornton, convenor of the PPE degree as he provides an expert overview of studying PPE, and what it offers students in terms of graduate employability. Our degree is specifically designed for the next generation of decision makers and opinion shapers, and will set up graduates with powerful skills they can take into their career.

Health: Opening up specialisations and pathways in the field of health

Our highly sought after Bachelor of Health Sciences now offers proposed new majors* - expanding the possibilities of where this degree can take graduates in the health sector. This session will equip you with the details on the various career opportunities this enhanced degree now offers students as well as all the benefits of the degree beyond just theory. We’ll also update you on our latest developments planned for Exercise Science at our Melbourne Campus. *Changes are subject to final approval.

Creative Arts: Exploring creativity

Join Dr Rob Conkie to learn about our refreshed Bachelor of Creative Arts, which will have students working collaboratively on projects across the disciplines of theatre, screen, writing and visual arts. Our degree gives students the opportunity to join a community of diverse creative artists, and allows them to share their work on campus and beyond.

Business: Courses for the future

Join us in showcasing our brand new Donald Whitehead Building, home to the La Trobe Business School (LBS). Agricultural Sciences: Sowing a successful career

Join the Day of STEM: Help your students with their future STEM careers

The ‘Day of STEM’ is a national initiative designed to raise the IQ for STEM careers by inspiring the next generation of students through a self-guided, interactive, online STEM awareness experience developed by LifeJourney. These programs can be undertaken for FREE by teachers, schools, students and parents anywhere, any time. In this workshop Renee Hoareau will introduce the Day of STEM programs including Cyber Security, Women in STEM, Australia 2020 and sports analytics through the Day of STEM Cup.
