Applying as a Non-Year 12 student

Unless you're currently studying Year 12, you're considered a Non-Year 12 or Non-School Leaver applicant, regardless of your age.

If you've completed Year 12 or equivalent studies:

You can apply for Normal Entry to La Trobe. Normal entry is by application via VTAC for citizens and permanent residents of Australia or New Zealand. VTAC requires that you have completed the VCE (or equivalent) or have undertaken previous tertiary education such as TAFE studies or recognised overseas qualifications deemed equivalent to minimum entrance requirements. For more information please see our Normal Entry page.

If you haven't completed Year 12:

Or you'd rather apply to university after testing your academic potential, you can apply for Mature-Age Entry, provided you meet the relevant eligibility criteria.

Alternatively, you might consider single subject studies, where you enrol in individual subjects (units) on a full-fee basis rather than enrolling in an entire course. Depending on the entry requirements of your chosen course, it may give you credit towards your degree (although it doesn't guarantee you a place).

For information on specific subjects, use the Handbook link in the CourseFinder entry for your chosen course. This will direct you to a Handbook entry that lists all the subjects prescribed for that course, and provides links to detailed descriptions for them.

Call the Future Students Centre on 1300 135 045 if you'd like more information on single subject studies.

If you've been studying at TAFE, you may be eligible for credit towards a La Trobe degree. See the TAFE page for details.
