Education student, Rebecca McLean says moving from the country town of Rainbow to study at La Trobe Bendigo has allowed her to make her dream of being a teacher a reality.

‘Teaching is one of the most rewarding professions. Teachers play a vital role in society, and I am really excited to be in the classroom while still studying.’

Living 200 metres away from campus with a group of friends in a share-house, Rebecca says that Bendigo is a central point for her.

‘It's about two and a half hours from my home town, and an hour or so from the City [Melbourne], so it’s easy to go home and visit.’

It was the welcoming feeling of the Bendigo campus that initially attracted Rebecca.

‘As soon as I started university everyone was so helpful. The other students were really friendly and it instantly reminded me of the community where I grew up. That is one of the main reasons I picked La Trobe. It is such a natural, serene campus.’
