Selection process

Selection of qualified applicants is generally based on academic performance in Year 12 studies unless there are other relevant factors, which may include study at tertiary level (whether complete or incomplete), or consideration of special skills and other experience.

Full details of the selection procedures, including the two-stage process and Middle-band selection, are published in the current VTAC Guide.

Equivalent National Tertiary Entrance Rank (ENTER)

VCE students:

VTAC calculates an ENTER for all VCE students who have successfully completed the VCE and satisfied minimum tertiary entrance requirements. Only applicants who have at least four VCE study scores in an acceptable combination will have an ENTER.

Interstate Year 12 students:

Interstate Year 12 results (except Queensland) provide you with either a TER or UAI, which is the equivalent of a Victorian ENTER. Queensland uses a ranking system (OP) which is not equivalent to the ENTER. A conversion table for the Queensland OP is available. VTAC receives your results and ranks from your state admissions centre/authority and forwards them onto your course preferences.
