Subject outline

Photojournalism 4 continues to consolidate and extend the student#s skill base.   Projects focus on added light, particularly on location, flash, TTL, off camera, bounce, direct, studio, location, balancing and over-riding daylight, painting with light that offer the potential for image making far beyond the amateur. Constructing an image, and directing an image are also explored. Students apply these components to the contextualised creative practice of photojournalism.

02. Conduct research into situations and events to be visually documented. Research should provide multi layered and complex information about potential documentary subject.

03. Develop abilities in the use of required technologies and process, and apply to analysing project opportunities and developing creative solutions.

Student led activities. Guided activities. Evaluation of influences of professional outcomes both technical and conceptual. Creative problem solving applied to project outcomes in assignment and folio presentation.

04. Create an individual approach to creative practice in contemporary photographic and photojournalistic practice with developing professional outcomes.

Evaluate student outcomes against industry and professional examples. Assignment outcomes demonstrate development of technical and conceptual abilities that visually articulate and communicate to the viewer in a multi layered and complex ways.
